Prof. Philip Gaißer

Professor of Art Fundamentals/Photography

Philip Gaißer took over the professorship in Art Fundamentals/Photography in the Art faculty at the start of the summer semester 2017 ; he had previously held this position as a substitute professor at the BURG since October 2016.

Philip Gaißer, born in Hamburg in 1980, studied at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg from 2001 to 2007. His works have been shown at various exhibitions both in Germany and abroad – for example, at the ‘Kunstverein Harburger Bahnhof ’ art society, at the Albertinum in Dresden, at Galerie Conradi in Hamburg and in the Camera Austria at the Kunsthaus Graz. He has been awarded the studio stipend of the ‘Zeit’ newspaper’s Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius Foundation (2011), the M. 1 support award of the Arthur Bosamp Foundation 2013 ) and, most recently, a stipend for the Casa Baldi from the German Academy in Rome ( 2017). He has published the art books “Alma” (Spector Boos, 2014) and “Ants 1” (Edition Camera Austria, 2015). Since 2012 , he has been running the ‚ATP Bahrenfeld exhibition space in Hamburg together with Carsten Benger and Nilas Hausser.

From 2013 to 2016 , Philip Gaißer was an artistic assistant in Photography at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig.
